Celebrate the unveiling of Kené: Lines of Healing, Paths of Connection with Shipibo-Konibo artist and cultural leader Olinda Silvano and members of the Shipibo-Konibo community from Cantagallo, Lima. Experience Silvano’s new mural in dialogue with works from the Fowler Museum’s collection and discover how kené expresses connection, memory, and healing through painting and song.

Throughout the evening, Silvano will share stories from her practice and reflect on kené—the sacred design system of the Shipibo-Konibo—as a living tradition passed down through generations. As she paints and sings, she brings kené to life as a multisensory experience, where sound, line, and presence come together in the gallery.

Working across textiles, painting, and large-scale murals, Silvano transforms kené into a powerful visual language that carries ancestral knowledge into the present. Rooted in the Shipibo-Konibo community of Cantagallo in Lima, her practice bridges community, tradition, and contemporary artistic expression.

Join us for an evening of art, conversation, and community celebrating kené as a living practice of cultural continuity, creativity, and healing.
