Summer Concert on the Green: Pachuco José y Los Diamantes

Kicking off Sumer Concerts on the Green – our summer performance series on Sunday afternoons – Pachuco José y Los Diamantes bring their 1950s-inspired rockabilly music to the Fowler’s Amphitheater for a swinging good time. Grab your dance shoes because no one can resist big sound. Bring the whole family and come early for a Kids in the Courtyard art-making activity from 1-3 pm.

Special Program: Uhengaparaoa, Taonga Tuku Iho: Ancestral Gifts and Contemporary Māori Art

This gathering marks the opening of a collaborative exhibition that connects contemporary Māori textile artists from Whakatōhea with an ancestral kaitaka (cloak) in the Fowler Museum collection. Inspired by the legacy of Uhengaparaoa, a renowned pre-18th century Whakatōhea weaver whose knowledge of raranga (weaving) was shared across communities, the exhibition celebrates taonga tuku iho—ancestral treasures and knowledge passed down through generations. ...
