Virtual Studio Visits: Jemima Wyman

We are pleased to feature multimedia artist Jemima Wyman in the first of our Virtual Studio Visits. Many of the exceptional artists the Fowler’s Contemporary Council has visited are making short videos to give us a special behind-the-scenes look at their current projects. At the height of the pandemic, Jemima is making face masks for family and friends and working on new collages, all while juggling a four-year-old! Enjoy this sneak peek into her studio.

About the artist:
Jemima Wyman, b.1977, Sydney. Lives and works Brisbane and Los Angeles.

Wyman’s practice encompasses performance, video, installation, photography and painting. Her most recent work focuses on patterns and masking used by marginalised groups to gain power (aka counterpower). Through this work she investigates visual resistance: specifically camouflage as a formal, social and political strategy in negotiating identity. Full CV here.
