Fowler Families: No! My First Book of Protest

Children ages 0-4 can’t vote, but they can read along and shout “NO, NO!” with this easy-to-follow book about protesting and standing up for our beliefs. Written by Julie Merberg and illustrated by Molly Egan, No! My First Book of Protest is a sturdy board book introducing a host of activists: Frederick Douglas, Cesar Chavez, Malala Yousafzai, Greta Thornburg, and others. Each colorful spread addresses a vital issue, including equality, education, and the environment. Friendly faces share stories—told in rhyming verses—about brave individuals who have defended truth, equity, democracy, and hope. A cheat sheet of activists at the back of the book offers a guide to grown-up readers.
