Fowler Families: Antiracist Baby

In the children’s book, Antiracist Baby, author Ibram X. Kendi provides a valuable nine-step guide to building a more equitable world. Vivid illustrations of diverse families (and lots of babies) by Ashley Lukashevsky accompany a poetic text that teaches children core values and a better understanding of human differences. Profiled in the NPR’s “100 Favorite Books for Young Readers,” this sturdy board book gives parents an opportunity to introduce the subject of racial differences to their children and create a lasting impact on their lives.

Visual artist Ashley Lukashevsky also joined our recent panel, Intersections: Gender Equity and Anti-Racism at the Ballot Box. Click here to watch the recorded event, a collaboration between the Fowler and TIME’S UP.

Watch actor Kenrick Sampson read Antiracist Baby aloud here.

Parents can join their children on the journey to becoming antiracists by reading Ibram X. Kendi’s #1 New York Times Bestseller, How to be an Antiracist. Kendi offers a guide to opposing racist systems within ourselves and in society at large, and prompts new ways of thinking about race.
