An Introduction to Cochineal Insects
Learn about the craft and culture of the sacred red color made from cochineal insects. In this daylong workshop for adults, Porfirio Gutiérrez will discuss the history and uses of cochineal from the perspective of the Zapotecs who originally cultivated this prized colorant. Participants will learn to naturally dye a scarf and take it home the same day.
Open to ages 20 . Advance tickets required (no walk-ins).
