Talk: Kay and Nyambo Anuluoha of Kutula by Africana

August 12, 2018 | 2:00PM - 3:00PM

Kay and Nyambo Anuluoha are designers and owners of the oldest African-print clothing store in Los Angeles: KUTULA by Africana (formerly Africana Imports). They will discuss the legacy of their family-owned business and their role in providing African-print clothes for Marvel’s blockbusters Captain America: Civil War (2016) and Black Panther (2018), as well as dressing many of Hollywood’s premiere actors for the red carpet including David Oyelowo for Queen of Katwe (2016) and Gringo (2018), and Angela Bassett for Black Panther.

From 12-5pm, Ankara Fest LA hosts a Pop-Up Shop in the Davis Courtyard. This marketplace includes five LA-based vendors offering clothing, bags, and jewelry in conjunction with the exhibition Striking Iron: The Art of African Blacksmiths.
