Striking Iron Film Series: The Meteor Man

A high school teacher (Robert Townsend) struck by a meteor gains superhuman strength and speed, X-ray vision, and telepathy with dogs to take on the gang that has been terrorizing his inner-city Washington, D.C. neighborhood. Featuring appearances by Luther Vandross, Sinbad, Naughty by Nature, Cypress Hill, and Big Daddy Kane.

Iron’s elemental strength has inspired fantastical narratives around science and invention across visual genres—especially film. This summer series celebrates black superheroes and vigilantes through comedies and action films featuring Robert Townsend, Damon Wayans, and Wesley Snipes. Escape the warm summer evenings in our cool auditorium with free screenings on the third Wednesday of the month.
