Story Time: John Henry

October 19, 2018 | 11:30AM - 12:30PM

Who is stronger than ten men, and can dig through a mountain faster than a steam drill? Join us for an interactive storytelling experience as we look, listen, and learn in our special exhibition Striking Iron: The Art of African Blacksmiths. Children of all ages are invited to learn about John Henry in the popular African American folk ballad, John Henry by Julius Lester (1999). After the reading, families are encouraged to explore the exhibition uninterrupted before the Fowler opens to the general public at noon.

Story Time is a short format, informal storytelling program facilitated by Fowler educators at 11:30 am on the first and third Friday of most months. This event is free, no reservation required. Meet in the Fowler’s Lobby.
