Impressions of Identity and Culture
IN PERSON
This two-hour workshop, inspired by Aboriginal Screen-Printed Textiles from Australia’s Top End and led by Marianne Sedowski, is intended for people ages 6+. Participants will design and create their own bandanas using images connected to nature and the environment, symbols of their own culture, and abstract depictions that express their individual and/or cultural identity. They will then learn how to carve these images on a block and print them multiple times in order to achieve the desired effect on their bandanas. Participants will also mix their own colors and reflect on the importance and symbolism of color as a means of expression. Space is limited to 25 attendees.
This program is presented in partnership with Self-Help Graphics & Art.
