Guided Exhibition Tour

November 8, 2018 | 2:30PM - 3:15PM

Free guided tours of current exhibitions will be held each Thursday at 2:30 p.m. No reservations are required. These interactive 45-minute guided tours highlight current exhibitions and are ideal for learning about art around the world. Group tours at the Fowler Museum are led by Student Educators, UCLA students from diverse disciplines who bring unique perspectives to the artwork on view. Spanish-speaking educators are available upon request with advanced notice and are also subject to availability. Email the Education Department at fowlereducation@arts.ucla.edu for more information.

Special Program: Uhengaparaoa, Taonga Tuku Iho: Ancestral Gifts and Contemporary Māori Art

This gathering marks the opening of a collaborative exhibition that connects contemporary Māori textile artists from Whakatōhea with an ancestral kaitaka (cloak) in the Fowler Museum collection. Inspired by the legacy of Uhengaparaoa, a renowned pre-18th century Whakatōhea weaver whose knowledge of raranga (weaving) was shared across communities, the exhibition celebrates taonga tuku iho—ancestral treasures and knowledge passed down through generations. ...
