Fowler Out Loud: UCLA Taara and Naya Zamaana

This South Asian double-feature will showcase a unique collaboration between the award-winning competitive South Asian classical dance team UCLA Taara and Naya Zamaana, UCLA’s premier South Asian a cappella team. UCLA Taara combines several Indian classical dance styles to create innovative routines, while Naya Zamaana performs arrangements infused with Bollywood and western popular music to create a fusion unique to the world of a cappella.

Fowler Out Loud is an evening concert series that invites UCLA students from various disciplines to perform at the museum. Support for Fowler Out Loud comes from the UCLA Office of Residential Life.

All performances begin at 6PM. Galleries are open until 8PM.

Parking available in UCLA Lot 4, 398 Westwood Plaza, directly off Sunset Blvd | $12/day. Rideshare drop-off 305 Royce Drive.

This gathering marks the opening of a collaborative exhibition that connects contemporary Māori textile artists from Whakatōhea with an ancestral kaitaka (cloak) in the Fowler Museum collection. Inspired by the legacy of Uhengaparaoa, a renowned pre-18th century Whakatōhea weaver whose knowledge of raranga (weaving) was shared across communities, the exhibition celebrates taonga tuku iho—ancestral treasures and knowledge passed down through generations. ...
