Fowler Out Loud: UCLA Guitar Ensemble

February 27, 2019 | 6:00PM - 7:00PM

Directed by Professor Peter Yates, the UCLA Guitar Ensemble will be performing a varied program of solos, duets and ensemble works featuring music ranging from Renaissance chromaticism to brand new compositions with overlapping African rhythms. Solos will include eminent Cuban composer Leo Brouwer’s Danza Caracteristica, and a suite by the Brazilian master Heitor Villa-Lobos. Spain, a country associated with the guitar, will be represented in Romantic works by Francisco Tarrega. UCLA graduate composer Patrick Gutman will also debut a new work at this performance.
