Fowler Out Loud: Saanjh: Celebrating the Sunset

April 7, 2016 | 6:00PM - 8:00PM

As the spring days lengthen, join us for a musical celebration of the transition from day to night. Hindustani vocalist Shashank Jere, tabla artist Ravindra Deo, and bansuri flautist Prashanth Srinivas present Saanjh, a thematic exploration of transition. The program features the musicians performing classical Hindustani compositions in a variety of evening melodies with a tabla solo in Punjabi dhamar.

This gathering marks the opening of a collaborative exhibition that connects contemporary Māori textile artists from Whakatōhea with an ancestral kaitaka (cloak) in the Fowler Museum collection.
