Fowler Out Loud: Mariachi de UCLAtlán

Established in the early 1960s as one of the first academic mariachi groups in the world, Mariachi de UCLAtlán exemplifies the importance of arts and education in the Mexican American community. Join us when this annual favorite returns to our Amphitheater to share Mexican heritage and music.

Fowler Out Loud is an evening concert series that invites UCLA students from various disciplines to perform at the Museum. Support for Fowler Out Loud comes from the UCLA Office of Residential Life.

This gathering marks the opening of a collaborative exhibition that connects contemporary Māori textile artists from Whakatōhea with an ancestral kaitaka (cloak) in the Fowler Museum collection. Inspired by the legacy of Uhengaparaoa, a renowned pre-18th century Whakatōhea weaver whose knowledge of raranga (weaving) was shared across communities, the exhibition celebrates taonga tuku iho—ancestral treasures and knowledge passed down through generations. ...
