Fowler Out Loud Double Bill: YOUTHPhonics and Emma Boone

Come out for a musical evening with UCLA a capella group YOUTHphonics, a community service group that teaches music at Fairfax High School every Friday.

Then enjoy a performance by pianist, guitarist, and educator Emma Boone who will present a program of songs that address feminism, environmental awareness, and the importance of community.

Fowler Out Loud is an evening concert series that invites UCLA students from various disciplines to perform at the Museum. Support for Fowler Out Loud comes from the UCLA Office of Residential Life.

This gathering marks the opening of a collaborative exhibition that connects contemporary Māori textile artists from Whakatōhea with an ancestral kaitaka (cloak) in the Fowler Museum collection. Inspired by the legacy of Uhengaparaoa, a renowned pre-18th century Whakatōhea weaver whose knowledge of raranga (weaving) was shared across communities, the exhibition celebrates taonga tuku iho—ancestral treasures and knowledge passed down through generations. ...
