Fowler Out Loud: College Night featuring Sassyblack
This spring the Fowler celebrates the art of self-expression with exhibitions featuring gorgeous Indian body adornment, densely patterned African-print fashions, and the South African hip-hop style of Pantsula.
We invite college students from across Southern California to join us for an evening of art making and gallery-going — plus tasty treats from fundamental LA and more. Free and open to all. Co-presented by the Student Committee for the Arts
6-8pm // Art Making in the Courtyard
Celebrate the colorful and rich designs on view in African-Print Fashion Now by creating accessories from patches of African-print cloth.
6:30-6:45pm and 7:30-7:45 pm // Dance Performance in the Galleries
Join us for a performance by Cecilia Slongo and Abagail Fritz with music by Pape Diouf. The performance draws inspiration from the exhibitions’ fusion of cultures, styles, and rhythmic patterns as a way of engaging the spectators through movement.
7-8pm // Sassyblack performs in the Courtyard
Check out an electric performance by space-aged singer, songwriter and producer Sassyblack.
