Culture Fix: Laura Stickney and Derek Yee on Belkis Ayón’s Print-making Techniques
To create her large-scale works, Belkis Ayón employed collography—printing from collaged materials. The process involves applying materials to a rigid substrate such as cardboard to make a matrix, which is then inked and run through the press with paper. Join us for an informal gallery talk in which teaching artists Laura Stickney and Derek Yee discuss collography and the incredible details and textures it yields.
At 1 pm, the artists will demonstrate etching using a press, block printing, and foam printing in the Fowler Courtyard. Guests of all ages can make their own prints using foam.
#CultureFix is a short format, informal gallery talk featuring artists, curators and other luminaries. No reservation required. Culture Fix programs are free of charge.
