Artist at Work: Hisako Sekijima

The work of Japanese artist Hisako Sekijima is informed by the nature and history of basketry. She employs a variety of techniques and approaches that extend well beyond traditional basket making, however, as evident in her work currently on view in The Box Project: Uncommon Threads. In this live demonstration, Sekijima shows her process, which combines textile techniques, thread work, and basket making, all using limited materials and relatively simple tools.
