This symposium will consist of a documentary film screening, discussion of recent findings by UCLA’s Armenian Genocide Research Program (AGRP), and a roundtable conversation on what lies ahead for the AGRP.

In the summer of 2023, UCLA’s Armenian Genocide Research Program (AGRP) spearheaded the Armenian Genocide Looted Art Research Project (AGLARP), a multidisciplinary, collaborative venture aimed at: (1) fostering interdisciplinary research on Armenian art, cultural heritage, and objects that were looted, destroyed, or transferred during the Armenian Genocide; (2) engaging in critical thinking about the damage to Armenian culture caused by the Genocide and actions that can be taken to repair the wounds and restitute the losses. This project builds upon the AGRP’s March 2023 conference at UCLA, What’s Next?: Armenian Genocide Restitution in the Post-Recognition Era. Visit the AGRP website for additional details.

The conference is organized by The Promise Armenian Institute, and co-sponsored by the Fowler Museum, the Mgrublian Center for Human Rights at Claremont McKenna College, The National Association for Armenian Studies and Research (NAASR), The Promise Institute for Human Rights at UCLA School of Law, and the University of Texas at Austin School of Law.
